Dear Friends,
The Senate is expected to vote, Monday evening, for a "Motion to Invoke Cloture." If 60 Senators vote yes on the cloture motion, the Senate will then be able to schedule a vote on the bill that contains the homebuyer tax credit expansion.
Once the Senate acts, the tax credit must still go to the House of Representatives for action.
NAR has an active, nationwide Call for Action on the federal homebuyer tax credit. REALTORS are asked to tell their members of Congress to "expand and extend the tax credit" in order to keep the housing market moving in the right direction.
The credit needs to be extended for an additional period of time and expanded in order to build upon the progress that's been made. Uncertainty about the future of the credit will dampen consumer demand. The best way to assure continued housing activity is to extend and expand the credit and to do that now.
Please take a few minutes to respond and take action now!
